Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly is "crossing his fingers," but it's unlikely he'll be given the green light to play again this season.

While most of his teammates have declined to share opinions on how coaches should handle Kuechly's immediate future, quarterback Cam Newton weighed in Thursday afternoon:
