T his has been a bad week for those who have questioned Cam Newton’s ability as a leader.The Panthers’ quarterback went out of his way to defend his much-maligned receiving corps Wednesday. And Saturday, WVTM in Birmingham captured Newton’s speech at his foundation’s 7-on-7 tournament.If you’re a Panthers fan, it’s well worth carving out six-plus minutes to watch.

    If that is the kind of passion we can expect from Cam this year as the leader of the Carolina Panthers then I am even more encouraged for the season to begin. The real test of leadership will come when we are behind in a game and need to make the determination that we won’t accept defeat as an option. I have no doubt that Cam will be up for the challenge and that he will find a way to lift the team so that they will believe that defeat is not an option. GO PANTHERS!!!
