As Coaching Carousel Spins, Sean McDermott Waits

Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott is at peace if he doesn't land a top job once the current coaching carousel stops.

McDermott interviewed for openings in Cleveland and Tampa Bay last weekend, but the Browns on Wednesday picked Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson. McDermott's not yet out of the running for the Bucs' job, but multiple media outlets are expecting Tampa Bay to promote offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter.

"I thought it was a real positive experience," said McDermott, who also interviewed with Washington in 2013.

"But that was last week and this is this week, so my focus is on Seattle and our players and playing as well as we can come Sunday."

McDermott claimed he didn't know if any other teams had reached out. Besides the Bucs, the Titans and Eagles still have vacancies. McDermott has already expressed interest in landing back in Philadelphia, but the Eagles haven't yet called to set up a meeting.

"Everything happens for a reason. I've got a great job here, work with a great group of men and women and we love Charlotte," McDermott said.

"Like I always say, the Lord has bigger plans, so we'll see what those are."
