Hamstrings have been a bit of a bugaboo for the Panthers this month. First-round linebacker Shaq Thompson was limited in rookie minicamp after he tweaked a hamstring, and now, according to the team, receiver Kelvin Benjamin is dealing with a strained hamstring.

Benjamin has been at the stadium during the first two stages of OTAs, but it’s unlikely Carolina will put him on the field when phase three starts next week. The third and final stage of OTAs spans three weeks when teams are allowed to hold 10 practice sessions.

It would be good for the Panthers to have him out there with second-round pick Devin Funchess some time during OTAs or June’s mandatory minicamp, but considering Week 1 is still four months away, they won’t force anything the next few weeks.
