The Panthers are starting their season on the road, but Kelvin Benjamin is going home. The receiver grew up 180 miles southeast of Tampa Bay in Belle Glade, Fl., and on Wednesday, he admitted he used to be a fan of the team he’s facing Sunday.“I liked when (the Bucs) had Cadillac Williams, Mike Alstott … Warren Sapp, John Lynch. That whole team was great,” Benjamin said. The future Florida State star was a few days shy of his 12th birthday when Tampa Bay won Super Bowl XXXVII, but he couldn’t recall what he was doing the night they beat the Raiders.11 years later, Benjamin will make his NFL debut in his home state, which could have meant added pressure from people hitting him up for tickets. Yet he said only about seven of his family members already have tickets for Sunday’s game. Why hasn’t he had to buy dozens more for the calls and texts he’s surely getting like most rookies?”Oh, see those rookies don’t know how to use their cell phones,” Benjamin said with a laugh. “Turn if off. Turn it off.”
