It won't be surprising to see the Panthers keep Stewart out next week, too, giving him four full weeks of rest before the Divisional Playoff. Mike Tolbert, Fozzy Whittaker and Cameron Artis-Payne will again split carries in Stewart's absence. Even if he doesn't start, it's a good bet Artis-Payne will lead the Panthers in carries just like he did against the Giants.

Will miss his second straight game.

QB Cam Newton (not injury related)

After leaving his teammates Christmas presents that again included Beats headphones, Newton left Thursday's practice a bit early for a personal matter. He'll be back Saturday before the team heads to Atlanta.

A speed guy with a leg injury is never ideal, but he's good to go for Sunday.

 

DE Charles Johnson (calf)

Wasn't going to let his latest nick keep him from playing in his home state.
