Panthers Ride Remarkable Run of Health Into Playoffs

The Panthers were remarkably healthy in Week 17. They’re even healthier heading into their Wild Card game Saturday with the Cardinals.Backup quarterback Derek Anderson, whose availability was never truly in doubt, returned to practice Thursday after missing two days with the flu. The only real injury concern for the Panthers is backup safety Thomas DeCoud, who’s dealing with a sore hamstring. If he can’t play, Robert Lester will be active and backup at strong safety while Colin Jones will be the backup free safety.”It really is about being healthy at the end of the year and being hot,” coach Ron Rivera said. “My time in Chicago with coach (Lovie) Smith, we hit it real good with the Super Bowl run we made. Again, a lot of it had to do with the health of our guys and playing well at the end.”The Cardinals have much bigger injury issues, most notably at quarterback. A knee injury will keep Drew Stanton out, so  third-stringer Ryan Lindley will get his third-career start.
