Panthers Up Against the Seahawks … and the ’12th Man’

View image | gettyimages.com
The Seahawks are 24-2 in Seattle over their last three seasons. They’re 7-1 during the playoffs at CenturyLink Field, with the only loss coming in the first postseason game played there 10 years ago. The ’12th Man’ set a Guinness World Record for the loudest crowd roar at an outside stadium in 2013. So the Panthers’ Divisional Round game there Saturday night will be loud. Very loud.Carolina is 0-3 all-time in Seattle, including a 20-point loss in the 2005 NFC Championship. For many of the Panthers, this will be their first exposure to what many call the toughest place to play in the NFL. For others, they’ve seen and heard it before, and their experiences haven’t been great.Tight end Greg Olsen, safety Roman Harper and linebacker Thomas Davis are a combined 2-7 in their careers at Seattle. On Monday, they shared some thoughts on the Seahawks’ home.
Olsen: Went 1-1 while he was with the Bears[gap size=”10px”]

“It’s as loud as everybody says it is. It’s hard to really describe it to people. Playoff game coming off the Super Bowl, I can only imagine it’s probably even more so than when I was there a couple of years ago. But, it’s great. It’s what you would expect, … It’s what you dream of. It’s an amazing atmosphere, it’s an amazing experience to go up and play there on the road. But, it’s a tremendous challenge and we understand that.”

Harper: Went 1-4 while he was with the Saints[gap size=”10px”]

“It is the hardest place to play in the NFL right now for a reason. They have been very successful there. The crowd is very smart they know when to cheer, when not to cheer. It’s usually rainy, it’s not always pretty out there. It’s a long way to travel for most teams and at the end of the day you have to be able to handle all those things like that and be able to put them beside you.”

Davis: 0-2 with the Panthers[gap size=”10px”]

“It still is the loudest stadium that we’ve played in. That still to me shouldn’t have an effect on this game. We’ve played in loud stadiums before and it is all about going out and executing. We understand it is going to be loud and that it will be new to our offense that their fans are going to be loud. We practice with crowd noise and we’ve just got to be able to handle that situation and I’m confident that we will.”

Come on Panthers fans, we already know that it’s a very difficult place to play but we aren’t playing the 12th man we are playing the Seahawks and they are beatable. If the Kansas City Chiefs can beat them at home so can we. As long as Cam plays smart football our defense has proven that it can handle Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch. Both the defense and the offense must play 4 complete quarters of football and I believe we will be victorious. GO PANTHERS!

Kansas City didn’t beat them at home. That game was on the road… Dallas did… Another team that would drum your Panthers
