Panthers’ ‘Three Amigos’ Learning on the Job

Critics of what the Panthers did with their secondary this offseason have called Carolina's inexperienced cornerbacks many things. Inside the building, rookie corners James Bradberry, Daryl Worley and Zack Sanchez have a nicer name.

"They call us the Three Amigos," Worley said Monday. "We’re always together, we’re always hovering each other, we’re always talking and joking around."

For anyone alive in the 80s, it's impossible to hear the nickname without thinking of the classic movie starring Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short. And shortly after Worley made the revelation, fans quickly went to work:

Because the trio has plenty to learn, growing pains are a given. But on Monday, they helped show why it may be too soon to peg the Panthers' secondary as one of the worst in the league.

Through five training camp practices, Sanchez has shown an increased understanding of nickel, a position he's never played. And with Bené Benwikere on the PUP list, Bradberry and Worley have taken the bulk of snaps as the "starting" outside corners.

One of those spots is earmarked for Benwikere's return, so Bradberry and Worley are in direct competition with each other. Strangely, that seems to have strengthened the friendship.

"At the end of the day you have your own contract, so you want to compete with the guys around you. At the same time, you want to help each other," Worley said.

"We always look at everything as a positive. If we see each other doing something wrong, we correct each other."

It’s just a matter of time before the Three Amigos thrive on Thieves ave. Gives this group 2 years and you’ll start seeing one of the best groups of CBs in the league.
I’ve watched them practice and IMO Bradberry and Worley will both be physical corners that receivers dread playing. Just wait til strength & conditioning coach Joe Kenn has an off season with them and receivers will fear these guys.
Sanchez is one I need to see more of but I believe he’s gonna be great in coverage.
This Panther team should easily become the most physical team in the league; it’s just a matter of time!!
