[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″][gap][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner]A few hours after watching multiple receivers drop multiple passes in practice, the Carolina Panthers had seen enough.

General manager Dave Gettleman on Monday called up the Seahawks and traded for 6-foot-2 wideout Kevin Norwood. A fourth-round pick in 2014, Norwood caught just nine passes for 102 yards as a rookie.

The Panthers gave up an undisclosed 2017 draft choice in the deal, but since word out of Seattle is the Seahawks were considering cutting Norwood, it’s possible the pick is conditional.

Carolina could have waited for Norwood to be released sometime this week, but the loss of Kelvin Benjamin, the current struggles of Corey Brown and the troublesome hamstring of Devin Funchess forced their hand. Plus, Norwood may not have fallen to the Panthers’ spot on the waiver wire.

“Kevin gives us another player to compete at the wide receiver position,” Gettleman said in a statement. “He has the size you look for along with toughness and smarts. We studied him a lot going into last year’s draft and we look forward to having him as part of our receiving corps.”

The Panthers, especially receivers coach Ricky Proehl, were high on the former Alabama receiver during the draft process, so much so, that according to a source, they would have used a pick on him. Instead, the Seahawks grabbed him at No. 123 overall, five spots ahead of Carolina, who then took safety Tre Boston.

This is the first time Gettleman has traded for a player since he came to Carolina. He traded away linebacker Jon Beason and running back Kenjon Barner in his only other non-draft day deals.[line][vc_raw_html]

Oh yeah. We can see by his actions in Phillie that Barner was a great trade…..

On August 19, 2014, Barner was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional seventh round pick in 2015.[13] The trade reunited Barner with his former head coach at University of Oregon, Chip Kelly. He was released on August 30, 2014. On November 4, 2014 he was signed to the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad.

During the 2015 preseason, Barner attempted to make the roster behind 3 former NFL starters, Demarco Murray, Ryan Matthews and Darren Sproles. Looking to make an impact in the return game, Barner found near immediate success

Its preseason dude… .do you watch football at ALL?LOL

Your kidding right? He was worthless on our team, so I have no clue how you could possibly be sour about that. He offered nothing to our running or return game. Just because he is better utilized by another coach has no bearing on the decisions made by our front office.

Don’t know what happened with him in Seattle, but if he’s similar to the player coming out of Alabama, love this pickup. Think Norwood has a real chance to thrive here.
