S mart teams are slowly turning themselves into their own pseudo-media outlets, and the Panthers took a big step in that direction Wednesday.
The team announced a multi-year agreement with Time Warner Cable, a partnership they’re calling the largest ever developed by an NFL club with a regional channel.
The Panthers aren’t launching their own channel. Instead, the team will produce over 250 hours of programming annually for TWC SportsChannel, a preexisting 24/7 network.
Here’s what else we know about the new venture:
- TWC SportsChannel (HD 323) is available ONLY to TWC customers.
- Panthers’ programming on the channel is available to TWC customers ONLY in the Carolinas.
- Panthers’ programming begins July 23 at 6:00 p.m.
- Panthers’ pre-season games will air on the channel.
- Panthers’ pre-season games will continue to be simulcast on Panthers Television Network affiliates. Ex: WCCB in Charlotte.
- Former Panthers’ offensive tackle Jordan Gross will have a nightly show that shares the title of the podcast he started last year, “This is Gross.” Other nightly shows include “Panthers Roundtable,” “Panthers Game Plan” and “Inside Panthers Football.”
- The channel will also air:
- Coach and player press conferences live throughout the season.
- A live simulcast of the Panthers’ Postgame Radio Show.
- An exclusive second half hour of “Panthers Game Day,” the team’s Sunday night highlight show.
- “Panther Talk,” a live, hour-long daily talk show.
- A behind-the-scenes series during the preseason titled “Panthers Camp Confidential.”
- Specials that include NFL Draft coverage, free agency and TopCat cheerleading tryouts.
