Quotes to Note: Mike Zimmer and Teddy Bridgewater

From conference calls with Carolina media

[accordion_item open=”true” title=”Vikings Coach Mike Zimmer”]On former Panthers CB Captain Munnerlyn:

“He’s doing well. We do a lot of different things, teaching techniques and things like that and it took him a little while to understand where we want him to be and where we want him to go. He is a great competitor and a very feisty guy that wants to go in and compete and make plays, and he’s done that for us.”

On Munnerlyn’s success despite his size:

“He’s a smart guy number one, and he is a quick thinker, so those things tend to help. I think part of it with him is he’s had to overcome his size and his draft status throughout his whole life, so that’s who he is and that helps him to continue to survive. He is a heck of a competitor, and he is a tough guy.”

On the cold temperatures expected Sunday:

“The field is heated and the benches are heated. I don’t think there is any advantage. I think it basically comes down to blocking and tackling and covering and things like that. It is going to be cold, no question about it. We had a system put in for these two years to be outdoors, and it is finally installed now for us to go outside and practice. But we can’t get outside today because there is too much snow, but we are hoping to get outside during the week just to get more acclimated. The field will be in good condition on Sunday.”

On left tackle Matt Kalil:

“He is having his struggles. Last week it was penalties, and the week before he got beat a couple times. That is typically where it has been with Matt. He plays good for 80-90 percent of the time, and then he gives up a play, and everybody sees it. We obviously expect a lot more from Matt, and I know he does too, but if he could just clean up some of the bad plays then he is pretty good.”

[accordion_item open=”true” title=”Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater”]On the cold temperatures expected Sunday:

“The ball is going to a little harder because it’s going to be cold, but it just comes with the territory, it comes with the game.”

On his 4th-quarter comebacks:

“I think I’m just able to play relentlessly. During those times in the 4th quarter, when you’re trying to come back in a football game, I believe there’s less thinking for me going on and just more reacting to the game. Whenever you’re trying to come back it’s all about completions. Sometimes you may break your rules and your progressions just to find completions, but whatever works. It’s all about having a will and a resiliency.”
