“Those two as a pair are the best in the game. It’s such a challenge as you get ready to play these guys when those two are on the other side of the ball. They are so smart, they are so tough, and they are obviously the leaders of that defense. You just have so much respect for what they stand for and what they’ve been able to accomplish.”
On Roman Harper:
“Anytime you’ve got a teammate that you’ve played with for so long, eight years, and then all of a sudden they are on the other side of the ball during a game. I guess I went up against him every day in practice for eight years but just to see him in another uniform is a bit weird.”
On Josh Norman:
“His size stands out. He’s a bigger corner, and he’s physical and good in the press. I remember playing against him two years ago in 2012, and then I didn’t see him a whole lot last year. But I think like any young player you are just trying to find your role and find your way, and it seems like he’s getting more opportunities now.”
“It is our league every year; you can point to a number of games; we aren’t even at the half way mark. I think, and this is just me speaking for the Saints, I think if you look at Carolina and if you look at Atlanta, there have been a lot of close losses and even ties. We’ve been in two losses where a field goal with no time left beat us, and then a late surge by Detroit beat us. It is the nature of our game.”
On Kelvin Benjamin:
“He has established himself very quickly. As we were waiting with the Sunday night game, we had a chance to see some of the television broadcast with Carolina and Seattle. The things that standout are his catching radius, his ability to catch in traffic and high point balls. He’s a physical player and even when you are in position at times, he can go up and make plays, and obviously Cam (Newton) has got that confidence in him.”
On Josh Norman:
“He’s got good size, good ball skills, that play he made the other day was impressive. Certainly he’s confident, you want that from a corner.”
On Roman Harper:
“Great guy, great leader, not only do you miss Roman, but you miss his parents that were there at every game. There are so many things that I could go on and on about, … I still see the player who is very active in run support, can really fill a gap or support the run. He is very very good at covering tight ends and has the ability to leverage and understand routes. He is very smart, you never see him out of position.”
