Roaring Riot’s Week 1 Review/Week 2 Tailgate Preview

Observations from Week 1 in Jacksonville

The River City Takeover was an unqualified success. You can see more pictures from the event on our Facebook page, but this is my favorite:

I wish the Panthers played the Jaguars every season. They offer little resistance on the field and the best ticket in sports off it. Yep. Read that again. The best ticket in sports. Seems a shame to wait another seven years.

If Blake Bortles is the answer, you are definitely asking the wrong questions. The Panthers D made him look awful.

On offense, Ted Ginn did his best Ted Ginn impression: Returning a punt 40 yards and then within three plays dropping a touchdown pass. BREAKING: Panthers need receivers.

My #dadbod appears to have passed by the television cameras without incident. Some of our brethren were not as lucky.

We're pretty sure Braylon had fun:

On to Week 2 against Houston

Riley's dad is back in town. So that's kind of cool.

Did you know that a pre-NFL J.J. Watt was once on an MTV reality show? Cool hat. (credit to Sean Gentille for uncovering this gem):

By the way, Steve Smith once did this to the Texans' defense:

89 scored three times that game. The Panthers lost. Comfortably.

Did you know Jake Delhomme played for the Texans? Me either. They were the only team he never threw an interception for.

The other notable thing about the Texans is that one of their assistant coaches has an absolutely perfect “Macho Man” Randy Savage impression. We can all do a bad “Macho” impression. His is not one of those.

As for the Riot, we'll be rounding into mid-season tailgate form Sunday morning.

We can be found at our usual spot at Cedar Yard 1, located at the corners of Cedar and McNinch. All are welcome, but bring your wallet and give generously and often. All proceeds go to charities, in particular the Isabella Santos Foundation. We'll look after you with beer from Noda Brewing Company, food from the Dilworth Neighborhood Grille and live music from Heroes at Last.

Shuttle buses will be available to take everyone to "DNG" both before the game and for a post-game victory party.
