Panther Pace: Head Coach Ron Rivera

The final installment of our Panther Pace series features head coach Ron Rivera. While an eight-win per season pace is literally average, that’s what we have to go by.If he keeps that pace, Rivera will pass Don Capers on Carolina’s all-time wins list this season, but it would take him another five years to tie John Fox.The all-time numbers get a bit wild. Rivera’s former coach, Mike Ditka, is within reach, but check out George Halas and Don Shula. Rivera would have to win eight games until the 2050s to catch up to those legends.Since this our last Panther Pace post for now, I want to give a BIG thanks to Dave Baysden and Ben Bruning. Dave has made all the awesome infographics, and Ben has pulled the numbers. We hope you enjoyed the series, and as always, feedback is welcome over Twitter or email.rr-2-01

BBR NUGGETS

  • All this is also on our Week 1 page, but:
    • It’s understandable why it’s hard to believe, but it’s true: Cam Newton likely won’t play Sunday. — BBR
    • Why his actions this week deserve credit that he’ll likely never receive. — BBR
    • Yes, there nearly was a Julius Peppers/Panthers reunion. No, not all things end up reported at the time. — BBR
  • A Panthers No. 1 jersey like you’ve never seen it before. — buccaneers.com
  • Speaking of Peppers, this is one of the more revealing stories done on him in recent memory. — Journal Sentinel
