During his end of season press conference last month, Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera said he had received sympathetic letters and even money from kids after a house fire displaced him and his wife from their home.

Harmonie Frederick was one of those young fans, and WLTX in Columbia featured her story Saturday night:

The 9-year-old mailed Rivera five dollars from her tooth fairy money “so he won’t have to be homeless.” Rivera replied to Harmonie and returned her donation. “I appreciate your five dollars but our insurance will cover the rebuilding of our house,” Rivera wrote.

The Panthers are apparently a big letter-writing organization. Jerry Richardson made headlines last month when he was the only owner to respond to a 12-year-old Oklahoma boy who wrote a letter to all 32 NFL owners asking why he should be a fan of their team.
