Six-Pack, ft. Newton’s Mistakes and Wilson’s Winning Drive
The Seahawks constantly harassed Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, which factored into two of the game’s biggest plays.
Newton, who admitted to pressing against the defending Super Bowl champs, gave up a pair of turnovers on poor decisions.
Indecisiveness cost him on a second-quarter read-option with running back Jonathan Stewart. Newton fumbled on the play, ruining the Panthers’ third trip into Seattle’s red zone.
“It was just a miscommunication, and any time it’s a miscommunication, it falls on my plate,” Newton admitted.
Offense Continues to Sputter in Key Spots
Excluding Graham Gano’s two field goals, the Panthers ran a dozen plays in the red zone during the first half. They gained just 11 yards on those 12 plays, which featured only three passes. The results of three trips inside the red zone: Field goal, field goal, Cam Newton fumble.
“When you get inside the five, you have to scratch, crawl, spit, grip, find a way,” Newton said. “We know that, it just has to settle in where we’re in the heat of the battle. We didn’t do a good job of that, and it’s happened a lot since I’ve been here.”

GAME STORY
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Russell Wilson walked into the huddle with his team down a field goal and less than five minutes remaining. He started laughing, sensing the familiarity of the situation.
Then he looked around at his teammates and said, “We’ve been here two years in row — let’s go do it.”
And the Seahawks did it.
