Sean McDermott to Interview with Browns, ‘Interested’ in Eagles

After a 15-1 season and a fourth straight year with a top-10 defense, Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott was going to get at least one interview in this round of head coaching searches.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, McDermott has his first chat lined up:

The wayward Browns certainly don't offer the most attractive job, but McDermott appears intent on striking while the iron's hot.

On Monday, the 41 year old admitted he'd use the opening in the Panthers' playoff schedule to interview with interested teams. On Tuesday, he appeared on a radio show in Philadelphia and confirmed his desire to land where his coaching career started.

"We love it here. Living in Carolina, it’s been great, being here for five years. But yeah, we’re always interested. I love the Philadelphia area," McDermott told Anthony Gargano on 97.5's The Fanatic Morning Show. "And quite honestly, it’s been tough to watch over the last several years, you know, having grown up in the area and working there for 12 years."

"The fan base, I know what’s important to them. I know they’re genuine, they’re dedicated, and they’re real. And the facilities up there, they’re second to none. I’d love to see the Eagles recapture the magic, so to speak."

  1. WHY does he want to be the “latest-coach-to-destroy-his-career” in Cleveland? If you want to wreck your career, why not Miami where the weather is nicer?
