The Panthers:
- Have forced 10 turnovers in their three wins. They have no takeaways in their two losses.
- Snapped a three-game losing streak to the Bears.
- Won their seventh straight game decided by seven or fewer points.
- Have won nine of their last 10 regular-season home games.
- Defense had allowed opponents to score on 15 of their last 21 possessions before Bears kicker Robbie Gould missed a field goal near the end of the first half. Chicago scored on just one of its eight drives after that (Gould 45-yd FG, 3rd qtr)
- Allowed the Bears to convert just one of their six third downs in the second half. Chicago was 4-for-7 in the first half.
- Gave up just 26 rushing yards in the second half.
- Were 3-for-3 in the red zone after coming into the game with the worst red zone conversation rate in the league.
- Were called for a season-low three penalties.
- Have rushed for less than 100 yards in four straight games for the first time since 2005.
The Bears:
- Had three turnovers in their final three possessions. Their two other fourth quarter possessions ended with punts.
Panthers:
- Head coach Ron Rivera is 1-2 against the Bears.
- QB Cam Newton was 6-of-15 for 69 yards and an interception until the Panthers final drive of the first half. Newton was 13-of-20 for 186 yards and two touchdowns the rest of the way. Newton rushed a season-high six times, but he gained only nine yards.
- RB Chris Ogbonnaya scored the second rushing touchdown of his career and his first since 2011.Ogbonnaya had two receiving touchdowns last season in Cleveland.
- RB Fozzy Whittaker was active but did not play. After missing two games with a pulled quad, the Panthers did not want to force him out there. Whittaker promised he would play in Week 6 against the Bengals.
- WR Kelvin Benjamin, who caught just three of his 11 targets, finished with a career-low 38 receiving yards.
- WR Brenton Bersin caught one pass for 21 yards. Bersin has caught exactly one pass in each of the four games he’s been active.
- TE Greg Olsen had the third multi-touchdown game of his career. His last came when scored twice in a 36-14 loss to Denver on 11/11/12. His career high is a three touchdown game for the Bears against Arizona on 11/8/09.
- TE Ed Dickson caught his first two passes of 2014.
- G Trai Turner got his first NFL start. Fernando Velasco, who had started the first four games at right guard, did not play.
- DE Charles Johnson picked up his first sack of the year. He needs one more sack to pass Mike Rucker for second-most in Panthers’ history.
- DE Wes Horton had a career-high four tackles and his first sack of the season.
- DT Kawann Short had his first sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery of the season.
- DT Dwan Edwards shared a sack with Mario Addison. Edwards has already equaled his sack total from last year (3) while Addison has four sacks after totaling just 3.5 his first three seasons.
- LB Luke Kuechly, who led the Panthers with 15 tackles, has double-digit tackles in his last four games. His 11 solo tackles ties a career high (vs. Atlanta on 12/9/12; vs. SF on 11/10/13).
- CB Antoine Cason forced his third fumble of the season. Through just five games, Cason has already set a career high.
- CB Josh Norman suffered a shoulder stinger and possible concussion in the first quarter. He was replaced by Melvin White, who was benched in Week 4 against the Ravens.
- CB Bené Benwikere, who was injured in the first half, left the locker room with a boot on his right foot.
- S Thomas DeCoud picked off his first pass since he had six interceptions during his 2012 Pro Bowl season with the Falcons.
- S Roman Harper snagged his second interception of the year. In his previous eight seasons, Harper had more than one interception just twice (3, 2007; 2, 2012)
Bears:
- RB Matt Forte caught a career-best 12 receptions. He also lost a fumble for the first time since 11/24/13.
- WR Brandon Marshall was targeted a season-low five times.
- TE Martellus Bennett had a season-low three receptions for 17 yards.
