Making his weekly appearance on WFNZ’s ‘Primetime,’ Panthers safety Thomas DeCoud comments on the Tuesday afternoon release of cornerback Charles Godfrey.

    Why do you think they cut Godfrey instead of Harper?  Why not move Godfrey back to safety and send Harper packing?  Were Gettleman’s hands tied due to Harper’s contract, or do they really believe he (Harper) is a better safety than Godfrey?

    Good question and one worth getting an answer from the powers that be. Maybe it’s because in spite of his poor coverage and lack of speed, he already has 3 or 4 picks. (INTERCEPTIONS).

    It’s because Gettleman brought in Harper to be that big hitting, run stopping safety, and if he cuts him it’s an admission that it wasn’t a good move. Should move Godfrey bacl to strong and cut Harper.

    Harper took his gig and has a couple picks, he still sucks and should be put on notice.

    I think what everyone is missing is none of these guys are first string NFL players. Godfrey, Harper, DeCoud should be role players not starters. When the opposing QB can complete 3 of every 4 passes we aren’t going to beat anyone.
