Wednesday Injury Updates: Stewart ‘Explosive,’ Ginn ‘Ready to Roll

The Carolina Panthers released what may have been their shortest injury report of the season Wednesday.

Good timing.

Four days before their divisional round game with Seattle, running back Fozzy Whittaker was the only player listed on the report. He didn't practice and he's not expected to play after suffering a high-ankle sprain in the regular-season finale.

Otherwise, it's all hands on deck.

"It served it's purpose as far as having the bye week, obviously," coach Ron Rivera said.

"I feel really good about everybody, real confident about guys showing up and being ready to roll."

That includes running back Jonathan Stewart, who practiced for the first time since he sprained his foot in Week 14.

"It's been, what, a month? Just to be back out there, getting back in the groove, everything felt good," Stewart said. "Conditioning-wise, I feel like I'm just about there, and injury-wise, I'm explosive.

"Unfortunately, I do have experience in rehab and coming back from injury. So I know how to practice, how to come back, what's enough and what's going over the line as far as getting to game day. Right now, I feel just as normal as can be. I'm just licking my chops for Sunday."

Because Rivera said Stewart wouldn't have any limitations, he'll likely slide right back into his role as a workhorse.

Stewart's workout partner the past couple weeks also returned Wednesday. Receiver Ted Ginn Jr. (leg) was a full participant, even though Rivera had hinted the Panthers may have needed to bring him along slowly.

When asked if he was worried about his conditioning, Ginn said matter-of-factly:

"Oh, I'll be good. Track athlete."

Safety Kurt Coleman (foot) and linebacker A.J. Klein (hamstring), the Panthers' two other injury concerns coming into this week, also practiced in full.
