Week 5 Fantasy Football Sleepers

Typically, we give a weekly Panthers’ fantasy outlook, but, unfortunately, the stout Carolina defense is not a fantasy option in week 5. So here’s a look at some Week 5 sleepers:

Redskins WR Jamison Crowder [FantasyDraft Salary – $6,900]

The rookie was targeted 12 times by Redskins QB Kirk Cousins in their Week 4 win over the Eagles.

Washington played the red-hot Falcons this week, and there’s a good chance the Redskins will be forced to pass early and often. Atlanta has scored at least 24 points in every game this season, so expect Crowder to get his touches.

At the low salary of $6,900, Crowder is worth a look as a high-upside flex play.

Saints WR Willie Snead [FantasyDraft salary – $6,900]

Snead had six catches for 89 yards in the Saints’ win over the Cowboys. If he can duplicate that production this week, he’ll be worth the low $6,900 salary. Snead has been alternating strong performances with weak ones, but a matchup against an underperforming Eagles’ defense is a good sign for Snead in week five.

Ravens WR Kamar Aiken [FantasyDraft salary – $7,500]

With WR Steve Smith missing extended time with multiple microfractures in his back, Aiken looks to be Baltimore’s No. 1 receiving threat. His ascension has been aided by injuries, but he’s proven to be rather reliable. Aiken finished Week 4 with five receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown. This Sunday, he’ll face a Browns’ secondary that’s giving up almost 27 PPG to WRs and could be missing top CB Joe Haden again.

Bills RB Anthony Dixon [FantasyDraft salary – $6,000]

With Karlos Williams and LeSean McCoy injured, Dixon may be handed the reigns against the Titans. This sleeper is solely dependent on Williams’ ability to return from a concussion, and if he can’t go, it’s safe to assume Dixon will get a heavy workload in Greg Roman’s offensive system. The Titans are allowing an average of 15.3 points to RBs so far this season, so keep an eye on Dixon as Sunday approaches.

Broncos TE Owen Daniels [FantasyDraft salary – $6,300]

Daniels sees only a small portion of Denver’s targets each week, losing out to WRs Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. But Daniels is trending up after finding the end zone in back-to-back weeks. Plus, Oakland is dead last in the league against TEs, allowing 18 PPG in standard leagues and a whopping 27 in PPR leagues. It’s a recipe for success for Daniels – for this week, at least.

Week 5 Big Salary Players with Great Matchups

Broncos QB Peyton Manning vs. Raiders [FantasyDraft salary – $13,600]

Manning isn’t what he used to be, but he faces a decent matchup against a Raiders’ defense allowing 18.8 PPG to QBs in standard leagues. Last week, Oakland allowed injured Bears’ QB Jay Cutler to pass for nearly 300 yards against them.

Titans QB Marcus Mariota vs. Bills [FantasyDraft salary – $11,500]

Buffalo is currently the 29th-worst team in the NFL against QBs, giving up an average of 20 PPG in standard leagues. Mariota is averaging 22 PPG on FantasyDraft and is coming off a bye week, meaning good things may be in store for the rookie.

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles vs. Bears [FantasyDraft salary – $11,500]

Chicago’s defense is ranked 30th against the run and Charles has consistently put up big numbers. For the season, he has five scores with 300-plus rushing yards and 150 receiving yards. Facing the Bears’ lackluster defense could spell a huge week for the Chiefs and Charles.

Steelers RB LeVeon Bell vs. Chargers [FantasyDraft salary – $16,400]

Bell is the most expensive RB on FantasyDraft this week, but he wouldn’t be making this list if we didn’t think he had a great chance at having a stellar Sunday. For one, Pittsburgh is missing QB Ben Roethlisberger, which means an uptick in Bell’s touches. Plus, the Chargers are among the worst against opposing RBs, allowing 25 PPG in standard leagues. Bell finished Week 4 with 31 FantasyDraft points. There’s a chance he could pile up even more this week.
