Two days, three releases of receivers the Carolina Panthers know well.

The most familiar was Brandon LaFell, who the Patriots cut late Wednesday afternoon.

A Panthers' third-round pick in 2010, LaFell went to New England during Carolina's receiver rebuild after the 2013 season. The Panthers wanted to keep him around, but they weren't willing to match the 3-year, $9 million contract he got to go North.

LaFell landed on his feet nicely, winning a Super Bowl in his first season with the Patriots. After catching 74 passes for 953 yards and seven touchdowns in the regular season, he grabbed 13 receptions for 119 yards and a pair of scores in the postseason.

Most importantly, LaFell seemed to solve the drop issues he had in Carolina. According to Sporting Charts, he dropped just two of his 145 targets.

But a foot injury forced LaFell to miss the first six games of this past season, and he tripled his drops despite seeing his targets cut in half.

The Patriots saved themselves $2.675 million in cap space by releasing LaFell, who clearly had a fan in Panthers coach Ron Rivera.

Meanwhile, nearly 24 hours after the Saints cut their all-time leading receiver Marques Colston, the Falcons did the same with theirs.

Roddy White rewrote Atlanta's record books in his 11 seasons, setting new club marks with 808 receptions, 10,863 yards and 63 touchdowns. 10 of those scores came in 21 career games against Carolina.

White caught just 43 passes for 506 yards and a touchdown in 2015, his lowest production since 2006.

While he appeared out of gas, he apparently doesn't think so:
