Panthers safety Roman Harper

On extra meaning of this game because of potential playoff implications:

“At the end of the day, that’s what you’re playing for. You’re playing for home-field advantage, to get all the games we can here. We want the No. 1 spot and why not? What else are you playing this game for if you don’t want to win it all and put ourselves in position to do that? Luckily we’ve got a seven-game start right now. The more you stack up early, the better it is for you late.”

Panthers LB Thomas Davis

On the Packers being favored to win:

“The best part about what we’ve been able to do, we’re really not the target. We’ve been the underdog in a lot of games regardless of what our record is.”

Panthers QB Cam Newton

Panthers cornerback Josh Norman

On Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers:

“If you’re looking for a franchise quarterback, he’ll come to the top of your mind. His mobility is superb. His pocket presence is unreal. And his throwing on the run, I mean, the greatest … I’m sitting back here watching film on this guy, the stuff that he’s able to do, man. I’m like, I’m going to have to plaster (coverage) all night and not take any plays off. I’m definitely not going to have to bait him as much because this guy will make you pay for it if you do.”

Rodgers on Norman:

“He’s a great player. He does it all outside. He’s athletic. He can press, he can press bail, he can play off. He makes plays on the football. He’s a talented guy. You got to be aware of where he’s at. There are a few corners in the league who are like him – you have to be aware of where they’re at and how they’re playing and what type of coverage they’re playing and try not to them the football.”

Panthers coach Ron Rivera

When asked if he had any stories about former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman stories, who’s part of Sunday’s broadcast:

“[Former Cowboys coach] Jimmy Johnson always used to say, ‘You treat everybody fairly, but not the same.’ I asked him, ‘What are you talking about?’ He said, ‘Well, if such and such falls asleep, we cut him. If Troy ever falls asleep, I ask him if he needs some more coffee.'”
