Panthers Follow Nondescript Draft With Undrafted Free Agent Splash

After what many will likely consider a yawn-inducing three-day draft, the Carolina Panthers had a highly successful Saturday night.

They signed seven undrafted free agents, including two of the biggest names out there.

NOTES:

--Listed as a LB on Panthers' roster

--Ranked as the top undrafted free agent by CBS Sports and Pro Football Focus

--Totaled more than 100 tackles in each of his past three seasons at Duke, but many teams may not have seen him as much more than a box safety

WR Keyarris Garrett

Tulsa, 6-4, 220

NOTES:

--Ranked as the No. 2 undrafted free agent by Pro Football Focus

--Led nation with 1,588 receiving yards as a senior

--Was pegged by many as a mid-round pick, but an injury history and lack of seasoning may have caused his fall

RB Devon Johnson

Marshall, 6-0, 238

NOTES:

--Nicknamed "Rockhead" for his bruising style as a runner and blocker

--Converted TE rushed for 1,767 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior

--Back injury limited him to seven games, 593 rushing yards and five touchdowns in 2015

TE Jake McGee

NOTES:

--After transferring from Virginia to Florida, broke his leg in the 2014 season opener

--Has great hands that helped him grab 41 receptions for 381 yards and four touchdowns in 2015

--Once did this:

FB Andrew Bonnet

--In his four seasons, totaled 56 receptions for 574 yards and 8 touchdowns in the passing game.

--Rushed just eight times for 38 yards.
