TV cameras and reporters weren’t invited. Yet again, another Cam Newton-does-good story is spreading via social media.

The Carolina Panthers quarterback spent part of his Friday night surprising a 10-year-old boy battling a rare form of cancer. According to WCNC, Elijah Hughes and his neighborhood were celebrating Halloween a month early because doctors don’t know if he’ll make it to Oct. 31.

Elijah, whose favorite holiday is Halloween, is a big Auburn fan. Apparently, word got back to Newton, likely through teammate Colin Cole. Newton then went to Concord, N.C. to put a smile on the face of the boy dressed as the Joker.

“As a mom it absolutely melts your heart,” Becky Hughes, Elijah’s mom, told WCNC. “It brings tears to my eyes.”

He is acting like a franchise quarterback. Couldn’t be more proud of the Carolina Panthers organization

This guy doesn’t know how to not be awesome. Why people hate him i don’t know. But for a 25/26 year old his maturity is insane, he’s not flashy and he does a lot for the kids. I’d be heart broken if all this good was a veil for some alternate Cam nobody knows anything about.

Cam loves children and he enjoys trying to make a difference in the lives of as many children as possible. I am an Auburn fan and I know he did and still does a number of great things for children in the Auburn area as well.

Yes, you’re exactly right! I don’t understand where the hate comes from! Cam hasn’t done anything to deserve it! He’s always done for the kids!
