TV cameras and reporters weren’t invited. Yet again, another Cam Newton-does-good story is spreading via social media.
The Carolina Panthers quarterback spent part of his Friday night surprising a 10-year-old boy battling a rare form of cancer. According to WCNC, Elijah Hughes and his neighborhood were celebrating Halloween a month early because doctors don’t know if he’ll make it to Oct. 31.

Elijah, whose favorite holiday is Halloween, is a big Auburn fan. Apparently, word got back to Newton, likely through teammate Colin Cole. Newton then went to Concord, N.C. to put a smile on the face of the boy dressed as the Joker.
“As a mom it absolutely melts your heart,” Becky Hughes, Elijah’s mom, told WCNC. “It brings tears to my eyes.”
