“[Running back Jordan Todman] was probably the last one we talked about, him and [safety] Marcus Ball. We went around and around; we kept trying to figure out, ‘Well, what about this? What about that? How can we keep a guy like that?’ Both those guys deserve opportunities. I wasn’t surprised about Todman going to Pittsburgh and I wouldn’t be surprised if somebody’s sniffing around Marcus right now.”

More on choice to cut Todman:

“Jordan was more of a third-down specialist-type guy … It’s never easy cause the young man’s a heck of a football player, but we just feel we have a couple guys who do the same thing he does.”

On keeping undrafted running back Brandon Wegher:

“He can become an every down kind of back. He’s not just going to be a first- or second- down or third-down guy. The other thing he did was his effort on special teams was huge … Being a young, dynamic football player, it was hard to risk putting him out there and seeing if you could bring him back on practice squad.”
