Postgame comments after the Panthers' 24-17 win Sunday over the Texans.
WR Philly Brown
How does the score help your confidence?
"I've said before that I never lost any confidence. I've said it over and over again. It was just an issue of technique and letting the ball get into my body. I've never lost confidence in the use of my hands. Cam [Newton] obviously hasn't lost much confidence in me. He tells me every day when we connect in practice and connect in games. We have a good relationship. I've never lost confidence."
What was the play call on the touchdown?
"It was just a deep post. Coach [Mike] Shula did a good job of scheming them up, and a good plan of seeing where they'd be in certain situations and in certain downs that we'd get a certain coverage. We came out in the formation and we saw them in the coverage that we wanted. Cam knew and I knew where the ball was going so I just had to make a play."
Was it a bit of redemption for you and Ted to both get TDs?
"I wouldn't call it redemption because we're not out here to get revenge on anybody or try to dog cuss anybody that said anything negative about us. We're here to do a job and that's why they put us here. We're going to keep working this week and try to make every play."
WR Ted Ginn
What did the touchdown catch do for your confidence?
"It was never really shaky. I've been in this league for awhile and you have ups-and-downs. It gives more confidence to my team that you can go through trials and tribulations and be able to come back and make a play for your team."
What would you call the route for the TD catch?
"There's really no word for it. It's what DBs hate, a double move."
Are you happy to see Philly get a touchdown, too?
"Y'all got a problem with Philly; I don't. That's my guy. When he does whatever he do, he's great in my eye. Everything's not going to be perfect, and today he showed you that he can still catch."
What'd you think of Cam's flip?
"Oh, it was great. If it wasn't for 93, he would have stuck the landing."
How dynamic is he at the QB position?
"To be 6'6'', you don't see a lot of guys at 6'6'' that athletic, that play football. You usually see them play basketball or run track or something like that. For a guy to be able to come to this level and be a quarterback and do something I couldn't do, it's amazing."
Do you embrace being a teacher for these guys?
"You got to. In this league you'll be a baby, then a teenager, and now I'm an adult. It's almost like growing up in life for real. It's up to me to be able to help my guys get better as well as they help me get better."
Your TD total in Carolina matches your career (6), why do you have so much success here compared to other places?
"I think that it's about confidence. The confidence that he has in me and as long as I keep going out and showing it, he builds on it more and more every week. When I was first here, we got started later in the year and now here we're getting started early in the year."
