A s the month-long World Cup begins, there’s a proliferation of previews all over the Internet. A couple that caught our eye compared the 32 teams to the 32 NFC clubs.

Ironically, NFL.com and footballperspective each matched the Panthers with the U.S. The former compared Landon Donovan’s omission to Steve Smith’s release, an analogy we made when we wondered if Dave Gettleman was in charge of the USMNT.
