Even though he’s a Brit, we’re going to let Dan Barker take the first swing at this. Here’s how he describes himself:
Dan Barker is a founding member of the Roaring Riot, the unofficial fan union of the Panthers, and he sits on the board of the Queen City Riot, the Charlotte chapter of Roaring Riot. He’s a Charlotte native (go Big I) with a British passport.
He conveniently left out the part that he’s also a fan of Leicester City, who, despite a solid start, will be fighting off relegation in the English Premier League again this season.
Anyway, I know most of you couldn’t care less about that, so here’s Dan:
On Sunday, our grand experiment will roll into EverBank Stadium when nearly 600 Roaring Riot members and friends descend upon Jacksonville in their best pool gear.
The Jags sell tickets to poolside cabanas IN their stadium. So, we bought them all. I think the Jags’ ticket office was happy for the business. Tough day for the people responsible for storing the tarps, though:

“Rioters” have been dragging themselves through a relentless preseason campaign to ensure maximum pool-body readiness. Not me, though.
To nullify the risk of exposing my dad bod to a national television audience the only way I’m getting in that pool is if I’m dressed like this:

(Quick aside: Is that the most Steelers-y image you’ve ever seen or what?)
It’s been a long, strange road that led us here.
What started in 2008 as a small group heading down I-85 to watch the Panthers get gobbled up by rampaging Falcons’ running back Michael Turner has grown into something beyond our imagination.
We nearly didn’t make it. That 2-14 season was enough to put off even the most ardent of fans. For those Cam Newton-haters out there, I present this:

But here we are sending an army of fans to take over a stadium four states away on opening day.
If you can’t make it to Jacksonville, don’t fret. You can cheer on the Panthers from the entirely awesome, though sadly, pool-free Dilworth Neighborhood Grille.
They’re our official location for all Panthers’ games this year.
If you are going, just look for me. I’ll be the guy in the pool with the jeans on.

Love this! Happy to be a new member of the Big Apple Riot. I’ll be holding it down at Amity Hall in Manhattan this Sunday, watching for all the Panthers fans in the cabanas way down south.
