Carolina Panthers News and Coverage for the Digital Age

BBR’s State of the Union, Post Season One

Well, that was a whirlwind.BBR’s first season is in the books, and before we look ahead to the next six months, I want to say THANK YOU for the past six.THANK YOU to all who checked out the site and who made it a daily destination. Nearly 2 million page views and 500,000 unique visitors for our launch season is a solid start. And THANK YOU to those who contributed to the site:

  • Dave Baysden
  • Ben Bruning
  • Russell Burton
  • Ben Coon
  • Dave Friedman
  • Matt Harmon
  • Chris Kroeger
  • Adam Morgan
  • Josh Norris
  • Justin Parker
  • Russell Varner

I vowed to spare you from HOTTAKES and other clickbait crud, and while that may not be the smartest online strategy for quick success, that’s not going to change.I also vowed to explain the WHYS and HOWS of WHAT the Panthers did, and while we did some of that, it wasn’t as much as I had hoped. Doing in-depth perspective pieces while also covering the news of the day during the grind of the season was a difficult balance, but it was a great learning experience heading into next year. And essentially, that’s what this first year was all about: Learning and laying down a solid base for the future.Ultimately, I’m pleased with how the first season went, but BBR has a long way to go.Some call it a blog, but with all due respect to blogs, that’s not the goal. The end game is to be a self-sustaining media outlet that marries everything traditional outlets do separately into one site. That wasn’t going to happen in one year, and it probably won’t happen in another, but that’s what we’re building toward. After traveling to every away game this past season, up next are trips to the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine. Then it’s free agency, the draft, off-season workouts, and before you know it — training camp.Taking what we’ve learned these past six months, we no doubt have things we’d like to iron out during the next six. We’ll eventually post another site survey or two as those help enormously. It will be important to hear what you liked – and what you didn’t – about this year’s coverage so next year’s can be even better. You proved there is interest in a standalone site that covers the team, and I look forward to continuing to build BBR with you, the fans, in mind.–BV

  1. Keeps getting better, great job. Thanks for taking the criticism and building off of it. Instead of arguing against it, or as most do, ignoring it.

  5. Well done! it’s nice to have a spot to go for all Panthers info gossip etc.

just wish I could figure out how to keep the daily emails from going to “junk file”

  7. In my opinion, there will always be a place for a site that takes the time to educate. There are plenty of places to go to get news. While I do like to keep up with the comings and goings of the team, the play breakdowns and explanations are what keep me coming back. It’s also nice to see legitimate critiquing of players performances, rather than the standard rabble. You guys are doing a great job and I look forward to following you while you grow. Thank you all for all that you do.

  11. Incredible site, I also check it throughout the day. Really loving the opponent links and game breakdowns. I’d love some NFC south links through the off season to keep tabs of coaching and personnel changes! Awesome job so far!

  13. I honestly thought I had just stumbled on this site earlier in the season when looking for a new Panthers (dont call it a) blog, I had no clue this was your first season.  In so far as in depth analysis goes, not just rumors, speculation and opinion, this is far and away the best Panthers site out there.  Keep up the fantastic work, Im looking forward to the off-season!
