A Cam Newton leap has landed the Carolina Panthers' quarterback his second Sports Illustrated cover in as many months.
Newton's 1-yard touchdown plunge over the pile during the first quarter of the NFC Championship is SI's featured photo for one of two regional covers this week. Broncos OLB Von Miller is on the other.
Newton (plus guard Trai Turner and center Ryan Kalil's foot) was on SI's cover back in November after the Panthers' blow-out win over the Redskins.

Are we now the worst 17-1 Superbowl team that’s ever been on the cover of Sports Illustrated?
Yes. And the worst team to spank top five defenses three times in the same year (soon to be four). And the worst team to set playoff scoring records.
Soon we’ll be the worst 18-1 Super Bowl Championship team with an MVP quarterback.
Keep Pounding!!
I LIKE your thinking! The Panthers are one of the best newer small market teams if you look at Pro-Football Reference and franchise history records. (Seriously! Jacksonville, Tampa, New Orleans, Atlanta, Houston, all have lower franchise records for their histories than we do. Better thank Ron, John, and Don – but not George! – for that)
The New York, Philly, Dallas, Chicago, and other “historic” franchise fan-bases, are hating us like crazy. I guess the more they hate us, the better we are. 🙂
