Even though an original plan for some pre-training camp work between Cam Newton and his Panthers' receivers in Greensboro was scrapped, they did manage a small get together ahead of Spartanburg.
For the past couple weeks, at least five Carolina wideouts joined Newton to work out at Under Armour facilities in Baltimore. According to a source, that group included Devin Funchess, Ted Ginn, Stephen Hill, Brenton Bersin and Damiere Byrd. It's unclear if any other Panthers participated.
After ankle surgery had limited him last spring, Newton gathered with a handful of his receivers before camp at Ricky Proehl's sports complex in Greensboro. The Panthers' quarterback also spent time training in Baltimore, which he has again for parts of this summer.
