[vc_row no_margin=”true”][vc_column width=”1/1″]After chopping their roster Saturday, the Carolina Panthers on Sunday added 10 of the players they released to their 2015 practice squad:
- WR Brenton Bersin – Makes sense to keep around the WR who knows the offense best; spent all of 2013 on practice squad.
- WR Damiere Byrd – Raw, but showed potential all spring and summer.
- TE Scott Simonson – Does a lot of things well, but not great.
- OT David Foucault – Project Canada continues.
- DE Rakim Cox – Flashed in preseason against backups, but often overmatched versus better competition.
- DT Chas Alecxih – A bit of a surprise he got a spot over Terry Redden.
- LB Brian Blechen – Converted college safety had a quiet camp.
- LB Adarius Glanton – After he played in 12 games as an undrafted rookie, this was likely one of the tougher cuts.
- CB Carrington Byndom – Spent first 12 games on last year’s practice squad before getting called up for five appearances, including the playoffs.
- CB Lou Young – Had some nice moments in May, but hamstring injury in camp killed his chances.

A lot of bad decisions were made from the looks of it…..Marcus Lucas was the best receiving TE all preseason and not only does he not make the team but doesn’t even make the PS?!?! Glanton should have been taken over Jacobs and Mayo should have hit the PS…Cox was at least the 2nd best DE behind Ealy during the preseason….Redden over Alecxih on the PS…Brockel and Tolbert have to go, Ward was a true FB and a frkn beast, the players nicknamed him the Punisher for Christ sake, Tolbert isn’t the Tol-dozer anymore and Brockel is WORTHLESS, would have kept Ward and Todman and dumped these 2 bums…..Boykin was waaaaay better than Corey Brown and he gets cut…it just seems like RR and DG are fine with mediocrity….I was crazy excited about the direction it looked like this team was going, then they come out with pretty much the same team from last year and get rid of a bunch of talented players so they can keep their buddies/favorites/projects around……smdh

You should leave your house and come see practice sometimes. Your anecdotal GM scouting skills are severely lacking. As a native Charlottean that lives in South Carolina now, I go to every single practice down here. If you like hard knocks, they come down and see how bad some of the players you like are lol. You cant build a team around pity and “I like that guy”, as there are plenty of story lines to root for. Brown had ONE BAD preseason and hes trash? Boykin has had 4 bad years and was mediocre with A.Rod as his QB. Tolbert and Brockel are worthless? Again, what are you basing that on? Scheme? Blocking? Cox went hard in 4th Q during games vs 29 year old rookies, but did nothing during 1st team reps. Like I said, come to practice, he made ZERO plays, Youve played sports, I assume? What happens when you suck in practice or tryouts? I like Cox too but he did good against our 3s, thats about it. Lucas was trash, his blocking is suspect as hell as a converted WR. Not to be long winded, but if Carolina is stupid, then what are the other 31 teams and the CFL that also pass on these players? I guess youre the only one that recognizes your own genius lol. Come to practice, itll open your eyes to alot of these players that you fall in love with.

A much more gifted athlete at OT, Laurence Gibson (who’s several years younger) is available.

LOL at all of these “fans” calling some of these “bad moves”. Remember, youre watching players SMASH 3rd team and undrafted rookie players from other teams. I agree, Lucas did play well, did any of you see him in practice vs second team? The days I was down there he couldnt get open vs our 2s! I mean its common sense, if hes is THAT good, why are the other 32 teams also passing? Spotting talent on Madden or because folks play good in garbage time means nothing. You want a fair assessment? Come on down here and see Spartanburg. You’ll see much more than what you see during a “game” vs people that dont matter. Same with Boykin. As a Charlotte native, I remember him in HS and hes a good kid, but not even the injury decimated Packers, his old team, brought him in for a workout lol. You guys cant be that obtuse, right?
Wow genius I had no idea that not playing well in practice was more important than playing better than others in actual game situations….
another thing people don’t seem to realize is that 2nd and 3rd string players still play in games as well…If a player catches a ball against a 3rd stringer, he still caught the ball….correct? now… you can’t honestly tell me that you don’t think Lucas is a better TE option over Brockel…. you act like I am calling him the next Tony Gonzalez ffs…As far as Boykin goes, some receivers play better with different QBs..ie Ginn…and different coordinators use them in other ways…Boykin looked good here, don’t really care what he did in GB… for crying out loud FRENCHIE made the PS and Ward Redden and Lucas didn’t lol…There is no way you can rationalize Focault making the PS over these 3… to me looking good in live action, even in preseason against 3rd stringers is more important than getting open in practice….and what’s with the (“) around the word fans? Are you trying to imply that I am not one because I disagree with some of the moves made? Have been a fan since the teams inception, born and raised in Charlotte… If I wasn’t a fan I wouldn’t give a damn…hell I have it set up so I don’t have to work on game days lol…The whole point of the comment section is to show approval and/or disapproval in what’s going on with the team….calling somebody obtuse because you don’t agree with them is just plain ignorant
