BBR This Morning: Panthers Draft Bracket and the Weekend Roundup

O ne of BBR’s advantages is the freedom to try things traditional outlets would need multiple meetings just to decide when they would have another round of meetings. We’re going to throw lots of stuff at the wall. Some of it will stick, some of it won’t.Case in point — the NCAA Tournament-style bracket we’re unveiling this morning. Or more specifically — the one we wanted to unveil this morning.Screen Shot 2014-05-05 at 1.34.19 AMWe’ll spare you the details of why it won’t play as nicely as we wanted on the site. Long story, short — if you want to check out our Panthers First Round Options Bracket, you have to go to this link, sign up and fill it out there: challonge.com/panthersdraftbracket.Essentially, we set up a bracket with 32 players who could be around, and who the Panthers could be interested in, if they stay at No. 28 Thursday night. So there’s no Clowney or quarterbacks, but there’s regions full of receivers, offensive lineman, defensive backs and others. If we can make the bracket embeddable with the ability to fill out predictions on our site, we’ll do so, but for now, the link above could be fun to mess around with for a few minutes.

Weekend Roundup:

  • Every NFL helmet re-imagined “Star Wars” style, via Fast Company.
  • NFC South uniform redesigns, via Reddit.
  • Where did Jordan Gross go? via WCNC
  • NFL Hall of Famer and Charlotte resident Joe DeLamielleure doesn’t think much of Charlotte as a football town, via ESPN.
  • The latest on Bank of America Stadium renovations, via the Charlotte Business Journal.
  • Ron Rivera, and every NFL head coach since 1978, against the spread. via Football Perspective
  • Luke Kuechly, shaking hands and … holding babies.
  • Cam Newton and his boot at the White House Correspondents Dinner.
  • Cam Newton and Jim Cramer at the White House Correspondents Dinner.
  • Cam Newton, Kevin Johnson and Al Sharpton at the White House Correspondents Dinner.

Coming Up:

  • At noon, we’ll be posting a story on Panthers’ running back Jonathan Stewart, who we recently caught up with. There’s a decent amount of new info, including his current health status and a couple interesting things he’s tried this offseason in hopes of turning around his injury-plagued career.

BlackBlueReview Shazier and Ealy in the second round?! Hello Kentucky v Wichita State.

  • sdanner52

BlackBlueReview I’m looking forward to you piece on Stewie,he told me earlier this year he’s looking for a break out season.

  • BlackBlueReview

    danny_g13 who’d you take?

  • BlackBlueReview

    sdanner52 thank you

  • danny_g13

BlackBlueReview Well this is a dream bracket so OBJ was the overall Champion. Shazier made it to the final game though.

  • danny_g13

BlackBlueReview View Shazier as a TD replacement and difference maker. That’s the goal when your making a first round pick imo.

  • BlackBlueReview

danny_g13 glad someone tried it out! Too many hours spent on platforms that ended up as duds. Oh well, learned for next year.

BlackBlueReview Are you kidding?! Love the graphics and interactive stuff. Really excited to see how the site grows.
