The
Duron Carter World Tour will be making a stop in Charlotte this week.Carter, the son of NFL Hall of Fame wideout
Cris Carter, plans to visit with the Panthers on Wednesday. Duron spent the last two years playing with the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes, totaling 124 receptions, 1,939 yards and 12 touchdowns. The 23-year-old has been plagued by questions about his work ethic, and he had a tumultuous college career. He spent his freshman season at Ohio State before he transferred to Coffeyville (KS) Community College. He then spent time at Alabama and Florida Atlantic, but academic issues kept him off the field at both stops. The Panthers join a handful of NFL teams interested in the 6-foot-5, 205-pounder. He has already visited the Vikings, Bucs, Colts and Chiefs, and reportedly, trips to San Francisco, Cleveland and Tennessee are possible as well.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
“Duron Carter said the Vikings are his top choice after his meeting and workout with the team, and while the CFL All-Star can’t sign with a team until Feb. 10, it seems like a distinct possibility he’ll follow his father’s footsteps with the Vikings.” — ESPN.com
“[Jim] Popp views Carter in the same way that he does former CFL receiver Joe Horn, whom Popp watched up close: a prospect who got off track but is incredibly gifted, enough so to make an NFL impact as a starter. Carter is a different beast than Horn, far taller with a longer wingspan, and Popp said he has ‘first-round type of skills.'” — Yahoo Sports
“I also talked to Cris about Duron in 2013. Cris wasn’t happy about his son’s college career, but said an NFL career was a possibility if he could make some changes in his life.” — Star Tribune
