Panthers (3-5-1) vs. Eagles (6-2) TV: ESPN, Monday (8:30 p.m. ET); Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden

SERIES HISTORY:

  • Series history: Eagles lead, 5-3. The Panthers snapped a four-game regular-season losing streak in the series with a 30-22 win in Philadelphia on 11/26/12. In that game, QB Cam Newton passed for 306 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 52 yards and two scores.

THE PANTHERS:

  • Are 13-19 in primetime games. They’ve lost three straight in primetime since beating the Patriots on Monday Night Football last November.

THE EAGLES:

  • At 6-2, are off to their best start since 2004.
  • Lead the NFC with a 29.3 points per game average.
  • Are first in the NFL with 12 forced fumbles.
  • Lead the NFL in rushing yards per game, rushing yards per attempt, plays of 20+ yards, passing plays of 20+ yards, scrimmage yards per touch, passing yards per completion, and touchdowns of 20+ yards since head coach Chip Kelly took over in 2013.

PANTHERS:

  • QB Cam Newton is 2-0 on Monday Night Football with five touchdowns, no interceptions and two rushing touchdowns.
  • WR Kelvin Benjamin, who has five touchdown receptions, is one away from breaking the team rookie record (Keary Colbert, 2004).
  • DE Charles Johnson has four sacks over his last five games.
  • DT Dwan Edwards has racked up 13 of his 18 career sacks in his two-and-a-half seasons with the Panthers.

EAGLES:

  • QB Mark Sanchez hasn’t started a game since he was with the Jets and lost to the Bills, 28-9 on 12/30/12.
  • WR Jeremy Maclin has 45 receptions, 790 yards and eight touchdowns, which puts him on pace to tie or break team records in all three categories.
