W hen we started BBR, many of the reasons were Pollyanna-like. Perhaps too much so in this age of #HOTTAKES. But we vowed to stick it through. So for example, when normally-smart writers like Mike Tanier miss so far outside, we hope to provide a more accurate assessment. We will never be cheerleaders. If we ever come across that way, please free to call us out.Our goal is to be fair. That’s all.Simple? Yes.Too simple? Maybe. The Panthers have had the most-controversial offseason in their history. Some would label it as the worst offseason in their history. It may turn out that way. It may not. What’s the harm in letting it play out?Another question – Among all the changes, is there a player or players they let walk who could have been the difference in a Super Bowl win?Exactly. So in this edition of BBR This Morning, we wanted to highlight the National Football Post’s season preview, which was released Monday.Greg Gabriel isn’t some guy just spewing from a laptop in New York. He spent three decades as an NFL man, with NFL men. His charge isn’t to rack up page views. As with most pieces written by folks who use a broader lens, there are mistakes. Tre Boston didn’t go to N.C. State, even if many disgruntled North Carolina fans wish he had.But ultimately, Gabriel doesn’t bury the Panthers from afar just because they dismantled a subpar group of receivers. There’s nothing earth-shattering in the preview, but this offseason, it’s a rarity when a national writer realizes the Panthers didn’t change anything that will keep them from winning something they wouldn’t have won in the first place.
