1. The Panthers needed to overhaul their receiving staff2. Smith’s production level had dropped to the point where his negatives outweighed his positives3. The locker room needed to be turned over

Good read. In the end I think it worked out well for both Smitty and the panthers (longterm). IMO Smitty wasn’t a great fit in shulas ofense and Baltimore gives him the chance to get the numbers needed to push him into HOF consideration. While I don’t agree with the way smith was treated. I think the wr core is atleast as good if not slightly better than last year and should only get better next year. Still we can only dream of what it would be like to have Benji, Smitty, and Olsen catching passes from Can.
