But apparently one of his superpowers allows Johnson to go unseen by shadows:For what it’s worth, the Panthers did a solid job against a couple other 6-5 wideouts on Sunday. Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans totaled just 73 yards on nine catches for the Bucs. But while those two play in the NFL, Johnson’s in a whole other league. The four-time Pro Bowler led everyone in receiving yards in 2011 and 2012, and he was at the top of the NFC last year. Over his last 24 games, the 28-year-old has eclipsed 100 receiving yards 16 times.Johnson’s not just the best receiver in the game. Megatron’s a machine.”A lot of guys can go up and can put themselves in position, but he catches the ball very, very well,” head coach Ron Rivera said. “A lot like what Kelvin Benjamin did for us (Sunday) — catching the ball behind the guy, off the guy’s shoulder pads — that’s what this guy does.”Led by the 6-5 Benjamin, the Panthers receiving corps has gotten taller the last few months, something the staff believes helps prepare their defense. And in an effort to combat the rising trend of big wideouts, the Panthers are also bigger at defensive back than they’ve been in recent years. Starting outside corners Antoine Cason and Melvin White are 6-1, while top backup Josh Norman and No. 1 nickel Bené Benwikere are 6-0.”(Johnson’s) a force and he can change a game in a hurry. He plays above-the-rim football, if you will,” McDermott said. “The good thing for us is we’ve got some long corners that give ourselves a chance in the same way to play above the rim, and get our hands on him at the same time.”This week will be just the third time the Panthers have faced Johnson in his seven-year career. They beat him in 2008, even though he did have a touchdown on six receptions. Three years later, they kept him out of the end zone, but he had 89 yards while the Lions piled up 49 points during a win in Detroit.Ultimately, Johnson’s going to get his catches. What the Panthers have to do is limit his explosive plays. It’s the type of challenge that could keep a guy up all night. Or all week.[vc_raw_html]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[/vc_raw_html]

Did Rivera just compare Kelvin to Megatron?!

delahappy appgrad22 You are definitely right about the offense stepping up, but if the defense lets off at all (like they did in the 4th last week), Detroit has so many weapons that they can score a lot in a small amount of time.

While everyone is worrying about Calvin Johnson I see Golden Tate having a field day. I think Detroit’s banged up secondary will help out a lot.

BlackBlueReview So I guess Shula needs to dial it up, We get behind, running isn’t going to get it alone. Keeping the Lions O off the field

Not saying he won’t get his catches… but this isn’t the Giants defense he will be playing this week.
Couple that with being on the road and outdoors and I think the Cats will be fine.

KissMyConverse Good points. Stafford had plenty of time to throw last night, which I don’t think will be the case on Sunday. Also, the Lions have a short week to prepare, so that bodes well for us.

Our D is definitely going to have get pressure on Stafford and keep him collapse the pocket as he looked pretty good getting out of the pocket last night. I am not to worried about that though with our guys swarming to the ball like they do on D. Megatron is gonna do what he does, but we just have to keep him out of the end zone. I think our WR’s could do some damage against their secondary since most of them are undrafted or late round picks. Shula needs to be more aggressive in my opinion this week. With Cam being back will get some Cam plays that we all love to see. I think it’s gonna be a great game.
