Set at Cornerback … For Now
Hopefully, Antonio Cromartie isn’t still waiting for a call from the Panthers.
Even though the nine cornerbacks on Carolina’s roster have a combined 31 career starts, the team isn’t currently looking for veteran help.
“I guess if we did do something, it’ll be later on,” coach Ron Rivera said Saturday after rookie minicamp wrapped up. “Right now we’re set.
“We’re very happy with what we’ve seen the last two practices with the young guys. [We had] an opportunity to really watch those guys in individual drills and thought they did some good things.”
The three cornerback draftees — James Bradberry, Daryl Worley and Zack Sanchez — all spent a good amount of time this weekend with secondary coach Steve Wilks, who jumped right in to teach his new toys.
Considering the Panthers took just two corners from 2012-2015, this draft was almost like Christmas for Wilks:
“I’ve been around here five years, and uh, just say I was happy. Very excited, yes.”
