With starting tackles Byron Bell (elbow/knee) and Nate Chandler (thigh) nursing injuries on a short week, the Panthers added some help by signing tackle Mike Remmers off the Rams’ practice squad.

An undrafted rookie out of Oregon State in 2012, the 6-5, 300-pound Remmers has bounced around from Denver to Tampa Bay to San Diego to Minnesota to St. Louis to Carolina.

For the second time in three Tuesdays, Robert Lester has been added to the active roster.

The Panthers promoted the safety from the practice squad in Week 7, only to release him days later because they needed to add linebacker/special teamer Adarius Glanton to the 53.

Lester, who played 12 games as an undrafted rookie last season, is insurance for Thomas DeCoud’s sore hamstring this week.

In yet another sign running back DeAngelo Williams will return for Thursday night’s Saints game, the Panthers waived Darrin Reaves.

The undrafted rookie has played in six games this year, and he started against the Bears in Week 5. He’s picked up 77 yards on 32 carries, while catching five passes for 31 yards.

If he clears waivers, the Panthers will likely add Reaves to their practice squad.

Linebacker Chase Blackburn’s season is over. He was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury he suffered against the Bengals in Week 6.

The 10-year veteran had played in 138 of a possible 150 games since he came into the league with the Giants in 2005. Blackburn, who started seven games in 2013, had been splitting the third linebacker role with A.J. Klein this season.
