It took two weeks and two waves of free agency, but the Carolina Panthers are finally in the market for a big name. While his best days as an elite receiver are behind him, Greg Jennings is a dependable talent who would be a good value add.As BBR reported Saturday night, the nine-year veteran met with Panthers officials Saturday in Charlotte. Jennings then flew back to his home in Minneapolis with plans to visit other teams who have contacted him since his release from the Vikings. But on Sunday, he posted this interesting message on Twitter:
Not sure why, but for some reason I have a desire to listen to "Good Charlotte" today! Hmm... https://t.co/7uITiNKIu3 pic.twitter.com/7zUeqN5skq

- Jennings: 9 seasons, 552 rec., 8,083 yds, 63 TDs, 2 Pro Bowls
- Cotchery: 11 seasons, 485 rec., 6,138 yds, 31 TDs
If he signs, Jennings could jump into the No. 2 spot, and he may stay there, pending what the Panthers do in the draft. Cotchery was a misfit in that role last year, as his ceiling has never been much higher than a No. 3.If Carolina decided to part ways with Cotchery, they could save $1.5 million toward the salary cap by making him a post-June 1 release. But that move still seems unlikely – for now.[accordion_item open=”true” title=”TED GINN/COREY BROWN “]Like Jennings and Cotchery, Ted Ginn and Corey Brown are similar. The Ohio State products are both 5-foot-11 speedsters who can help stretch the field. With Ginn sliding back into his returner role, it will be interesting to see which former Buckeye lands ahead of the other on the receiver depth chart.[accordion_item open=”true” title=”CAMP COMPETITION”]Receivers will again provide one of the most intriguing battles of the summer. Brenton Bersin, Mike Brown, Stephen Hill, Marcus Lucas and De’Andre Presley will all get a chance, plus more names could be added during and after the draft. Hill is, of course, the guy with the most talent. There’s a chance things will click for the former Jets’ second-round pick, but he could also remain nothing more than an enigma.[/accordion]
UPDATE: The Dolphins are apparently one of the other teams looking to land Jennings.
