Panthers Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook
Newton’s Priced Right
Cam Newton’s salary is the second-most expensive QB on FantasyDraft for the third straight week, behind only New England’s Tom Brady. Last week, Newton didn’t outplay his salary, finishing ninth among QBs in points. But this week, he has a great matchup against a Giants’ defense that’s allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing QBs. The Giants are also allowing the most passing yards per game in the NFL and we expect Newton to put up some serious yardage.
Plus, with RB Jonathan Stewart ruled out for Sunday, that opens up the possibility of more designed QB runs. Don’t let the high salary scare you, there’s a chance Newton puts up a 40-point performance.
No Stew For You
Stewart’s foot injury could cause some confusion, from a fantasy perspective.
Both Fozzy Whittaker and Mike Tolbert will see increased opportunities this week, but so will rookie Cameron Artis-Payne. All three are minimum salary players [$6,000], but we expect it to be more of a committee approach, rendering all three fantasy useless. Tolbert possesses some upside as a touchdown vulture goal-line back, but this game may be decided through the air.

Go with Ginn
Ted Ginn Jr. isn’t really a “sleeper” anymore. Even with a few drops, he’s putting up impressive fantasy numbers recently. His price is $5,000-$7,000 less than most No. 1 WRs and he’ll likely outplay his salary in what’s likely to be a pass-heavy game.
Panthers’ Defense
Nearly all the top-scoring players on FantasyDraft last week had one thing in common – they had the Panthers DST. Shutting out the once high-flying Falcons was their best performance of the year.
The Giants’ offense could cough up turnovers and sacks for the opportunistic Panthers. Add in the fact that they’re the seventh-most expensive DST and they’re a solid pick for Week 15.
Giants’ Offense
You may want to pick Odell Beckham Jr., but Panthers’ CB Josh Norman has shut down every receiver he’s faced this season. Beckham Jr. could put up the best numbers against Norman this season, but that’s not saying much. Norman held DeAndre Hopkins, Dez Bryant, Julio Jones, T.Y. Hilton and Mike Evans to 89 yards – COMBINED.
Fantasy Sleepers from Around the League
Bengals QB AJ McCarron [FantasyDraft Salary – $10,600]
With Andy Dalton breaking his thumb in Week 14, McCarron gets the nod. The former Alabama QB goes up against a 49ers’ defense that just lost to the Johnny Manziel-led Browns, so with a better offense, expect McCarron to have some success.
Saints RB Tim Hightower [FantasyDraf Salary – $7,700]
The 29-year-old back received a lion’s share of the carries last week in Mark Ingram’s stead. This week, Hightower faces a Lions’ defense that’s allowed a league-high 14 rushing touchdowns.
Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett [FantasyDraft Salary – $8,400]
Owners may be chasing points here, but Lockett is cheap and he’s getting more targets by the week. Cleveland’s secondary is hurting with CB Joe Haden on IR and CB Justin Gilbert likely out.
Raiders TE Clive Walford [FantasyDraft Salary – $5,000]
This is a potential pick, but aren’t all sleepers? Walford surpassed Mychal Rivera on the depth chart after making the most of his limited playing time, catching eight of his 12 targets for 100 yards over the last two weeks. Walford is cheap and worth the flier, playing a Packers’ defense that’s allowed five touchdowns to tight ends over the last six weeks.
