Panthers Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Newton is Worth Every Penny

For Week 16, Panthers QB Cam Newton is tied with Tom Brady as the most expensive QB on FantasyDraft. As the 2nd-priciest QB last week, Newton was his position’s leading scorer by a wide margin.

There’s no love lost between Carolina and Atlanta, so we expect Newton to have another big outing as the Panthers try to lock up home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Pot Luck Running Back Situation

The Panthers can beat the flailing Falcons with the RB committee of Fozzy Whittaker, Mike Tolbert and Cameron Artis-Payne. But in daily fantasy football, there are much more reliable options this week than any of the options in the Panthers’ backfield.

Go with Ginn

Just like in Week 15, we are big fans of Ted Ginn Jr. this week. He’s scored twice in each of his past three games including two weeks ago against the same Falcons he’s facing Sunday.

Panthers’ Defense

For two and a half quarters, the Carolina D looked against the Giants. Then they were lit up. But now they match up with a team they shut out two weeks ago. Despite that, there are better defensive bargains like the Seahawks’ D against the Rams.

Falcons’ Offense

I think WR Julio Jones will have a better outing this week than he did in his first meeting with the Panthers, but his high salary doesn’t make him worth the risk. [$15,600 FantasyDraft Salary].

Just like every other week this year, I’ll be avoiding offensive players facing the Carolina D in daily fantasy football.

Fantasy Sleepers from Around the League

Giants WR Rueben Randle [FantasyDraft Salary – $7,000]

With Odell Beckham Jr. serving his one-game suspension, Randall becomes the top option for QB Eli Manning.

Giants TE Will Tye [FantasyDraft Salary – $7,000]

Not sold on Randle? Manning will have to throw the ball somewhere and Tye could be the guy, especially in the red zone.

Bills RB Karlos Williams [FantasyDraft Salary – $8,800]

Starter LeSean McCoy has a partially torn MCL and is week to week. That should open the door for Williams to become the feature back.

Steelers WR Markus Wheaton [FantasyDraft Salary – $8,100]

QB Ben Roethlisberger will be slinging the ball around all day against the Ravens’ poor pass defense and we expect his No. 3 option to get a nice share of looks.
