- For the second straight game, Fernando Velasco started at right guard, and Trai Turner came in for the third series. But it wasn’t remain a rotation this time. The rookie stayed in the rest of the game, and a start against the Steelers may be next.
- Ed Dickson has just one target, no receptions and 41 snaps in two weeks. That two-tight end production in the passing game isn’t looking as promising as it did during the summer.
- Brenton Bersin played four snaps and caught one pass, converting a third down. Would have assumed he would have played more than one snap on special teams.

- Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis are the only Panthers who have been in for all of their unit’s snaps in 2014.
- Melvin White played the entire game in Tampa Bay, but as Ron Rivera promised, Josh Norman got a handful of snaps, mostly spelling White.
- After Roman Harper played just 19 snaps in Week 1, he was in for 46 more against the Lions. With Harper staying in, Charles Godfrey saw 33 fewer snaps.
- Charles Johnson has played nearly 90% of the defense’s snaps during both games, so his preseason hamstring injury appears behind him.
- With Greg Hardy held out, Wes Horton (+21), Mario Addison (+18), and Kony Ealy (+30) split up his snaps.
- Nickel corner Bené Benwikere played 40 more snaps than the third linebacker duo of A.J. Klein and Chase Blackburn.
- Strange to see a rookie like Ealy play no special teams snaps. Brandon Williams was active this week, but only for a few special teams plays.
