Panthers Lose Tavarres King, Add Lache Seastrunk to Practice Squad

Screen Shot 2014-08-02 at 10.23.04 PMFor the second time in as many weeks, the Panthers saw another team swoop in for a player on their practice squad. The Jaguars added receiver Tavarres King to their 53-man roster Tuesday, eight days after the Seahawks did the same with tackle Andrew McDonald. To fill King’s spot, the Panthers signed running back Lache Seastrunk. Seastrunk, who led the Big 12 in rushing last year, was a Redskins’ sixth-round pick in May. He averaged 4.8 yards per carry on 24 attempts during the preseason, but Washington passed on adding him to their practice squad after releasing him last month.Screen Shot 2014-09-16 at 3.57.54 PMUndrafted rookie Darrin Reaves is already on the Panthers’ practice squad, but the overall running back situation is somewhat murky.Oft-injured Jonathan Stewart was ironically the last back standing Sunday after Fozzy Whittaker (quad) and Mike Tolbert (chest contusion) left early with injuries. Starter DeAngelo Williams was held out with a sore thigh, but the team hopes he can return to practice Wednesday.King, a fifth-round pick of the Broncos in 2013, joined the Panthers last year, but he was never active on game day. He made a number of plays early in training camp this summer, but he faded throughout the preseason.

BlackBlueReview Sorry to lose King. Hope he does well in Jacksonville. Great news about Seastrunk, though. Figured we’d find an RB.

BlackBlueReview i wouldn’t expect him to see the field IF it did happen. I was just curious. Stewart got a LOT of carries. always risky

MMA_PITBULL yeah, the RB situation is slightly cloudy cause of injuries. even reaves, while practicing, still has knee issue

Coming from a Skins fan, Seastrunk has talent.  He needs to clean up a few things, he’s not an every down guy, but a 3rd down or maybe return man if he can show the hands for it would be a good role for him.  We all expected him to stick, only reason he didn’t is depth.  Getting cut from the Skins is not something to be upset about, RB is the one thing we were deep at.  We already had Morris, Helu and Silas Redd, there was just no more room.

But for a team that’s got the spot open, good potential
