When the Carolina Panthers' secondary wants something, apparently they don't have to cut through much red tape.
On Monday, a makeshift street sign attracted plenty of attention to their section of the locker room:

Because Thieve Ave. was hastily constructed by two pieces of cardboard taped together, it was an eyesore. Plus, according to safety Roman Harper – the secondary's appointed mayor – the spelling wasn't sufficient.
So the problem was taken care of by Courtney Rivera, daughter of coach Ron Rivera. She designed a new sign and made the secondary's motivation word plural:

"I talked to the city of Charlotte. They said they were going to come in and fix it for us," safety Tre Boston said. "They came in, they fixed it and threw a little extra sauce on it for us."
But like with most renovated neighborhoods, new problems have popped up.
"Property taxes are getting a little rough," cornerback Teddy Williams said.
Yeah, but that's what you get for living in a nice area.
"It's straight. All we've got to do now is get a Thieverhood sign."
And where would that go?
"Where the defense is," Williams said, pointing to the section of the ceiling where the defense's part of the locker room begins.
Sounds like the mayor's job isn't done just yet.
