But here are a few other notable nuggets:[vc_column_inner width=”1/2″]When cornerback Charles Tillman signed with the Panthers earlier this month, he revealed Davis tried to recruit him to Carolina last offseason. Tillman instead returned for another season with the Bears, but that lasted only two games before a torn biceps cut his season short for a second straight year.In 11 seasons, Tillman has racked up 42 forced fumbles and 36 interceptions, inching closer to becoming the establishing member of a new 40-40 club.”We want to help him get those four interceptions he needs to become the first player to have 40 and 40,” Davis said.“I’m excited myself to learn. When you see what the guy’s been able to do, not only making interceptions, but to cause the fumbles that he has, it’s unbelievable to know that a guy can do that with guys knowing what he likes to do. And he’s still able to do it on a consistent level.”Davis and Tillman are the last two NFL Man of the Year award winners. They’ve also played a combined 22 seasons. When a reporter began framing a question with “I know your career’s getting close to an end,” Davis quickly interrupted by asking, “Says who?”So how much longer does the 32-year-old think he can play?“Until my body tells me I can’t play no more, and it ain’t talking to me right now.”While Davis, the Panthers and most of the league returns to work this week, the NFL is also set to unveil the regular-season schedule Tuesday night. Many eyes in Charlotte will be on where the Dallas game falls. New Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy is still awaiting word of a possible suspension, so the later the Panthers play at Dallas, the greater the chances are they’d play against their former star.”I hope we play them early in the season where we don’t have to face him,” Davis said, before half-joking:“I hope he’s not that good and it don’t really work out for Dallas. But I know Hardy and I know what kind of player he is. He’s going to go in, he’s going to work his butt off.
