Carolina Panthers News and Coverage for the Digital Age

Another Day, Another Change on Thieves Ave.

At this rate, the Carolina Panthers' secondary will soon have as many street signs as Cam Newton has shoes.

On Monday, this was hanging above the defensive backs' section of the locker room:

thieve ave

After much consternation, mostly from "mayor" Roman Harper, an improved sign popped up two days later:

Only to be replaced by this on Friday:

"We got mail today and it was in there," said Tre Boston.

Added Kurt Coleman: "We have supporters."

The latest upgrade came from a fan in Connecticut, who included a letter that read:

To the residents of Thieve Ave.,

This is OUR time!

KEEP

POUNDING!

But not everything is rosy in the neighborhood, apparently. Seems like us outsiders are confused about the culture.

"(Harper's) not the mayor. He's the CEO," Coleman said.

CEO?

"We're a corporation," said Boston.

"Y'all kind of messed it up. You want to know why?"

Sure.

"Cause we knew who we were in the beginning. But when y'all tried to find out who we were, that's when y'all went to throwing out y'alls details when you all didn't come fully to us about the details, man."

Of course ... blame the media.

Boston continued:

"This is the block. We are the thieves, we live on Thieve Ave."

Wait, is it Thieve Ave. or Thieves Ave.?

"We're the thieves. We're the thieves only. Not Ave. We just live on it. This is Thieves Ave., where we living."

Yeah, Sunday can't get here soon enough.
